Meticulously crafted from the finest materials, the YUS5 offers a refined look in an elegant upright design that delivers expressive control, superb sound and natural touch through Yamaha’s own Ivorite keyboard. Silencing system has been added to this YUS5. This is an SH3 type SILENT Piano™.

SILENT pianos are genuine acoustic pianos equipped with Yamaha’s advanced silencing technology. When the keys are played in SILENT Mode, the hammers are stopped immediately before striking the strings so that the piano itself generates no sound. Sensors installed below the keys decipher how the keys are played and relay the data to the digital tone generator, which generates sampled sounds that can be heard through a pair of headphones. By allowing players to play a true acoustic piano sound under normal circumstances, or to put on headphones and play in SILENT Mode to avoid disturbing others, SILENT Piano™ makes any time a good time to sit down at the piano.

WHAT IS THE SILENT Piano™?

This is a remarkable acoustic piano that can be played silently while letting you adjust the volume, retaining the rich and complex sound that’s unique to an acoustic instrument. Switch to Quiet mode and the hammers are stopped just before hitting the strings, while keystroke movements are read by optical sensors. These trigger the internal tone generator which reproduces a digitally sampled piano sound in your headphones. The result is an exceptionally natural acoustic piano sound that you can enjoy playing at any time, without worrying about your surroundings.

There are 20 different rhythms built into the SILENT Piano™ comprising drums and bass. Select the desired accompaniment pattern and enjoy playing with your own personal backing band.
