Description

Clavinova CLP Series

The GrandTouch keyboard, finely-tuned 3-way speakers and transducers bring you the touch and feel of a real grand piano.

Features

Yamaha’s latest keyboard action offers a wide dynamic range and precise touch response, while the consistent grand piano hammers and synthetic-ivory/ebony keys provide a comfortable, slip-resistant feel. The GrandTouch keyboard showcases Yamaha’s expertise with wooden keys, featuring high-quality solid wood construction that enhances durability and resistance to warping, creating a grand piano-like feel.

When playing a digital piano, the back area of the keys may prove to be a challenge to full musical expression. This is because the back of the key is closest to the fulcrum of the action. The closer to this pivot point that you strike the key, the less leverage you have and the more strength you need to apply. The greater length of GrandTouch keys give the player MORE leverage, allowing for better expressive control, even at the backs of the keys. This is the same support length found on the Yamaha S3X premium grand piano (as of July 2020), and is the longest support length used on any digital piano.

Every single key on a grand piano keyboard is weighted differently. This is because the strings for each note are slightly thinner and shorter in the treble register, becoming thicker and longer towards the bass register. The 88-key Linear Graded Hammers of the Clavinova is the first-of-its-kind to faithfully duplicate this graded touch with differing weights and key return on each one of its keys. This results in a feel and response that is astonishingly like that of a grand piano, and allows players to gain an appreciation of a more authentic touch.

Clavinova keyboards are equipped with an escapement mechanism, emulating the behavior of a grand piano, where the hammers move away from the strings after striking them to avoid interference with string vibration. This mechanism creates a subtle clicking sensation that is perceptible only on the lightest keystrokes, akin to a grand piano’s keyboard. Carefully calibrated to balance key repetition and response, the Clavinova keyboards offer an enhanced playing experience without compromising performance.

The damper pedal on the CLP775 provides essential expressive control, offering continuous detection of depression depth and enabling half-pedaling for subtle adjustments to the piano sound. The GP Response Damper Pedal features a grand piano-style resistance curve, gradually increasing in weight as the pedal is pressed further, allowing players to master delicate pedaling nuances.

Clavinova pianos offer exceptional playability, versatile functions, and a sleek design that seamlessly combines a compact form with modern aesthetics. With a focus on creating a natural and immersive playing experience, unnecessary elements are eliminated from the player’s field of vision, allowing them to feel as if they are sitting in front of an acoustic piano. Yamaha’s consideration for players who transition between Clavinova and grand pianos ensures a comfortable and worry-free performance experience. Moreover, Clavinova pianos effortlessly blend into everyday life, with contemporary accents and color options to complement various interior designs and lifestyles.

The touch panel only displays text when it is on—when the panel is off, it has the smooth finish of a keyblock.

The CLP-700 Series introduces Grand Expression Modeling, enabling pianists to achieve an extensive range of tonal expression similar to that of a grand piano by precisely controlling intensity, speed, and depth of key presses, allowing for techniques like trills, legato, and melody emphasis, enhancing the performance experience and facilitating learning and exploration of various musical techniques with joy and expressive freedom.

Clavinova grand pianos feature meticulously sampled sounds from world-renowned concert grands like Yamaha’s CFX and Bösendorfer’s Imperial, capturing the impressive, expressive qualities of the CFX and the rich warmth of the Imperial. Yamaha’s careful recording of the entire tonal range of all 88 keys faithfully reproduces the unique characteristics of each piano, resulting in harmonious and captivating tones.

Clavinova pianos feature Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), an innovative technology that faithfully reproduces the intricate sympathetic resonance found in grand pianos. By simulating the complex interaction of vibrations between strings, soundboard, and other components, Clavinova pianos deliver a richly varied and immersive sound experience, including the subtle nuances of damper movements and the resonance of various piano elements. Enjoy the authentic dynamics and deep sympathetic sounds akin to playing a grand piano with Clavinova.

The CLP-725 features binaural sampling of the Yamaha CFX, capturing the authentic piano sound from the perspective of the pianist’s ears. This method ensures the Clavinova piano reproduces the ambience and natural resonance of acoustic pianos, creating a grand piano experience even when using headphones. Pianists can immerse themselves in the music without feeling the presence of headphones, thanks to the lifelike sound quality. Additionally, the Stereophonic Optimizer function replicates the natural sound diffusion of piano effects, closely resembling binaural sampling for non-CFX piano voices.

The CLP-775/745/735/765GP* are Yamaha’s first instruments to be equipped with the voices of the fortepiano, the predecessor to the modern piano. The sounds emitted by a fortepiano are simpler than those of a modern piano, and decay much more rapidly. Hearing the sounds of the instruments played when the likes of Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin were composing their songs should illuminate the original intent behind the notes on the page. Here is a novel opportunity to communicate with historical composers by playing these period instruments.

*These models are equipped with the voices of two fortepianos beloved by Mozart and Chopin.

The CLP775 recreates the immersive sound and reverberation experienced when playing a grand piano through Grand Acoustic Imaging. By utilizing advanced acoustic design and measuring technology, the compact-sized digital pianos achieve the same sound image and field as a grand piano. Carefully balanced and positioned bass, mid, and treble speakers emit tones that replicate the proper placement of an actual grand piano, while a transducer enhances the full reverberation of the soundboard, providing a deep and authentic playing experience.
